This course will cover both principles and applications of logging cost analysis from the perspective of both wood buyers/procurement foresters and independent logging contractors. The focus will be on methods for evaluating historic production and cost records. Spreadsheet models such as the "Auburn Harvesting Analyzer" will be reviewed and ways to modify this tool to model a range of harvesting systems and variations will be illustrated. Upon completion of this course, participants should be well-equipped to better evaluate logging costs in businesses using these techniques.
